History of the  School

Princess Chulabhorn’s College Mukdahan (PCCM) was established on the 4th day of April 1994 according to the directive given by the Ministry of Education to commemorate the auspicious occasion during the Thirty sixth (36th) birthday anniversary of “Her Royal Highness” Princess Chulabhorn. The purpose of the establishment is to promote the development of learning activities in sciences, mathematics and technology. Likewise, it aims to be a model of secondary schools for training students on morality and ethics, so as to enable them to become independent citizens in the society. Students enrolled are from seven provinces, namely: Ubon Ratchathani, Amnat Charoen, Roi-et, Nakhon Phanom, Yasothon, Kalasin and Mukdahan.

        In 2010, the school was selected by the OBEC for Education Hub Program according to the development of Thailand project and started to accept students for M1 and M4 levels.

Academic year 2012 was the full operation/implementation of Education Hub Program because the grade levels from M1 to M6 was completed. At present, PCCM becomes the Regional Science School.

The Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Ministry of Education has developed the “High Performing Schools” project to improve and develop teaching and learning to meet international standards. Initially, to support school infrastructure, provide Resource Centers, organize professional development activities, support learning and teaching materials from overseas, and develop a curriculum to ensure the concept of ASEAN awareness. The preferable student characteristics should include;

  • S: Studying skill, which focuses on learner competencies, understand learning methodologies, able to plan lesson, sustain knowledge and able to express critical and analytical thinking
  • M: Morality, which focuses on moral, ethics and being a good global citizen
  • A: Attitude/Appearance, which focuses on positive and optimistic perception and understanding as well as appropriate personality which is accepted at the international standards
  • R: Responsibility, which focuses on self and social responsibilities
  • T: Technology/Talent, which focuses on utilizing technology creatively

Thus, OBEC has conducted continuous research on “High Performing Schools” in order to be a preferable student destination among ASEAN community in the near future.
